George William "Bill" Foster (born October 7, 1955 in Madison , Wisconsin ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party . He has been a member of the United States House of Representatives since 2013 , from which he was a member from 2008 to 2011.

Career

Bill Foster studied until 1975 at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and then until 1984 physics at Harvard University . He then worked as a physicist and entrepreneur. He became a board member of the Batavia Foundation for Education Excellence .

After the resignation of Congressman Dennis Hastert , the former Speaker , Foster was elected in the by-election for the 14th seat of Illinois as its successor to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he took up his mandate as a Democrat on March 8, 2008 . In the 2008 election confirmed he was defeated in 2010 the Republican Randy Hultgren and retired from the 3 January 2011 Congress of. Foster served on the Finance Committee and the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and four sub-committees.

In the 2012 election , Foster was re-elected to the US House of Representatives in the 11th Congressional constituency of his state, where he succeeded Adam Kinzinger , who moved to the 16th district, on January 3, 2013 . This time Foster won the election against Judy Biggert . He was re-elected to the Finance Committee and re-elected in 2014, 2016 and 2018. His current mandate runs until January 3, 2021.

Bill Foster is married with two grown children. Privately, he lives in Naperville .
