Anthony Michalek

Anthony Michalek (born January 16, 1878 in Radvanov , Bohemia , †  December 21, 1916 in Chicago , Illinois ) was an American politician . Between 1905 and 1907 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In the year of his birth, Anthony Michalek came to Chicago with his parents, where he later attended public schools. After that he worked as an accountant. Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party . In the congressional election of 1904 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fifth constituency of Illinois , where he succeeded James McAndrews on March 4, 1905 . Since he was not confirmed in 1906, he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1907 .

In 1908, Michalek sought his return to Congress without success. At that time he also became director and manager of the Chicago Conservatory of Music. He died in this city on December 21, 1916.
