Charles Augustus Boyle (born August 13, 1907 in Spring Lake , Ottawa County , Michigan , †  November 4, 1959 in Chicago , Illinois ) was an American politician . Between 1955 and 1959 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Charles Boyle grew up on his parents' farm and then attended Mount Carmel High School in Chicago until 1925 . He then worked for the Chicago Motor Coach Co. After studying law at Loyola University and being admitted to the bar in 1934, he began working in this profession in Chicago. He served as an attorney for the Federal Housing Administration in 1937 and 1938 . At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party .

In the 1954 congressional elections , Boyle was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the twelfth constituency of Illinois , where he succeeded Edgar A. Jonas on January 3, 1955 . After two re-elections, he could remain in Congress until his death on November 4, 1959 . This period was marked by the events of the Cold War and the civil rights movement . Charles Boyle died in a car accident in Chicago.
