William Enyart (2013)

William L. Enyart Jr. (born September 22, 1949 in Pensacola , Florida ) is an American politician . From 2013 to 2015 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Enyart served in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1973 , then attended the University of Illinois at Springfield ; at the same time he was a member of the US Air Force Reserve from 1973 to 1975. He then studied law, among other things, at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville until 1979 . He then worked as a lawyer and businessman. From 1982 to 2012, he served in the Illinois State National Guard . From 2007 he was their commander as major general ( Adjutant General ). In 2000, he had, during his time in the National Guard, the Army War College in Carlisle ( Pennsylvania completed).

Politically, Enyart joined the Democratic Party . In the 2012 congressional elections , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the twelfth constituency of Illinois , where he succeeded Jerry Costello on January 3, 2013 . He won the election with 52 percent of the vote against Republican Jason Plummer. Enyart was on the Armed Forces Committee . In the 2014 congressional elections , he lost his seat to Republican Mike Bost .
