Robert Twyman

Robert Joseph Twyman (born June 18, 1897 in Indianapolis , Indiana , †  June 28, 1976 in West Palm Beach , Florida ) was an American politician . Between 1947 and 1949 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Robert Twyman studied at Georgetown University in Washington, DC Afterwards he was employed in the diplomatic service for the State Department abroad. During the First World War he served as an ensign in the US Navy . In 1919 he got a job with a utility company in Guatemala . In World War II Twyman again served in the US Navy. After that he was involved in the manufacture and sale of construction machinery. Politically, he belonged to the Republican Party .

In the 1946 congressional elections , Twyman was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington in the ninth constituency of Illinois, where he succeeded Democrat Alexander J. Resa on January 3, 1947 . Since he was not confirmed in 1948, he could only complete one term in Congress until January 3, 1949 . This was shaped by the events of the Cold War .

After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Robert Twyman resumed his previous activities. He died on June 28, 1976 in West Palm Beach and was buried in Chicago .
