John W. Cox (1991)

John W. Cox Jr. (born July 10, 1947 in Hazel Green , Wisconsin ) is an American politician . Between 1991 and 1993 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

John Cox studied at the University of Wisconsin in Platteville until 1969 . In 1969 and 1970 he served in the US Army . After a subsequent law degree at the John Marshall School of Law and his admission to the bar, he began to work in this profession. From 1976 to 1984 he was a prosecutor in Jo Daviess County , Illinois. From 1984 to 1984 he served as a prosecutor for the Illinois state government. In 1985 and 1986 he taught at Loras College , Iowa . From 1989 to 1991 he served as Galena's municipal lawyer .

Politically, Cox joined the Democratic Party . In the 1990 congressional election he was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 16th  constituency of Illinois , where he succeeded Republican Lynn Morley Martin on January 3, 1991 . Since he was not confirmed in 1992, he could only complete one term in Congress until January 3, 1993 .

After his time in the US House of Representatives, John Cox practiced as a lawyer again. Today he is one of the Vice Presidents of Jo-Carroll Energy Inc.
