Edward Thomas Noonan

Edward Thomas Noonan (born October 23, 1861 in Macomb , McDonough County , Illinois , †  December 19, 1923 in Chicago , Illinois) was an American politician . From 1899 to 1901 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

After studying law in Chicago and being admitted to the bar in 1882, Edward Noonan began to work in this profession. In addition, he studied until 1883 at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor . At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . He served in the Illinois Senate from 1890 to 1894 . From 1893 to 1897 he was a member of the governor's advisory staff . He also served as legal advisor to the Committee of the Park Representative for West Chicago ( Board of West Chicago Park Commissioners ). In the years 1894 and 1896 he ran unsuccessfully for Congress .

In the congressional elections of 1898 Noonan was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fifth constituency of Illinois , where he succeeded Republican George E. White on March 4, 1899 . Since he renounced another candidacy in 1900, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1901.

After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Edward Noonan practiced as a lawyer in Chicago, where he died on December 19, 1923.
