Terry L. Bruce

Terry Lee Bruce (born March 25, 1944 in Olney , Illinois ) is a former American politician . Between 1985 and 1993 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Terry Bruce attended Richland High School in Olney until 1962 and then studied at the University of Illinois at Urbana until 1966 . After studying law at the same university, he was admitted to the bar in 1969. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1971 and 1984 he was a member of the Illinois Senate . In 1978 he ran unsuccessfully for Congress .

In the 1984 congressional election , Bruce was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 19th  constituency of Illinois , where he succeeded Republican Dan Crane on January 3, 1985 . After three re-elections, he was able to complete four legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 1993 . In 1992 he was no longer nominated for re-election by his party.

After serving in the US House of Representatives, Terry Bruce served as vice president of a regional telephone company. Today he lives again in his birthplace, Olney.
