Russell W. Keeney

Russell Watson Keeney (born December 29, 1897 in Pittsfield , Illinois , †  January 11, 1958 in Bethesda , Maryland ) was an American politician . In 1957 and 1958 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Russell Keeney attended public schools in Naperville and then studied at DePaul University in Chicago . After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1919, he began to work in Naperville in this profession. In 1920 he became a justice of the peace in Lisle . From 1924 he was there town clerk . He was assistant prosecutor until 1935 and then from 1936 to 1939 the actual prosecutor in DuPage County . From 1940 to 1952 he was a district judge there. He then served as a judge in the 16th judicial district of his state until 1956.

Politically, Keeney joined the Republican Party . In the congressional elections of 1956 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 14th  constituency of Illinois , where he succeeded the late Chauncey W. Reed on January 3, 1957 . He was able to exercise this mandate until his death on January 11, 1958.
