Edna O. Simpson
Edna Oakes Simpson (born October 26, 1891 in Carrollton , Illinois , † May 15, 1984 in Alton , Illinois) was an American politician . Between 1959 and 1961 she represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Edna Oakes was born in Carrollton. No information has survived about their youth or school education. She married Sid Simpson , who later became Congressman . This was set up in 1958 by the Republican Party for re-election in Congress . But since he died before the elections, his wife was nominated in his place and then also elected to Congress. Between January 3, 1959 and January 3, 1961, she was able to complete a legislative period there. In 1960 she renounced another candidacy. Edna Simpson did not appear politically in the following years. She died on May 15, 1984 in Alton.
