Frank Stoddard Dickson (born October 6, 1876 in Hillsboro , Montgomery County , Illinois , †  February 24, 1953 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician . Between 1905 and 1907 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Frank Dickson attended the public schools of his home country and then until 1896 the high school in Decatur . He then worked in Ramsey as a teacher. In 1898 he took part in the Spanish-American War as an infantryman . Then he worked as a teacher again. At the same time, Dickson embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . In the congressional elections of 1904 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington in the 23rd constituency of Illinois, where he succeeded Joseph B. Crowley on March 4, 1905 . Since he was not confirmed in 1906, he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1907 .

After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Frank Dickson was Assistant Adjutant General of his state between 1908 and 1910 . From 1910 to 1922 he commanded the National Guard as Adjutant General . He then was the finance director of the United States Shipping Board and Emergency Fleet Corporation until 1924 . From 1924 to 1926 he served as secretary to US Senator Joseph Medill McCormick . After that, he was a member of the Federal Executive of fire insurance in Chicago ( National Board of Fire Underwriters ). He died in Washington on February 24, 1953.
