John Joseph Feely (born August 1, 1875 in Wilmington , Will County , Illinois , †  February 15, 1905 in Chicago , Illinois) was an American politician . Between 1901 and 1903 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

John Feely attended the public schools of his home country and then studied until 1895 at Niagara University in New York . After studying law at Yale University and being admitted to the bar in 1897, he began working in this profession in Chicago in 1898. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party .

In the congressional elections of 1900 Feely was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the second constituency of Illinois , where he succeeded William Lorimer on March 4, 1901 . Since he renounced another candidacy in 1902, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1903 . After his time in the US House of Representatives, John Feely practiced as a lawyer again. He died in Chicago on February 15, 1905, at the age of only 29.
