Martin Emerich

Martin Emerich (* 27. April 1846 in Baltimore , Maryland ; † 27. September 1922 in New York City ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party , of the State of Illinois for a legislative session in the US House of Representatives represented.

Life

After attending public schools Emerich was in import trade worked and was appointed district commissioner for the poor in Baltimore 1870th Between 1880 and 1884 he was aide-de-camp of the Governor of Maryland , William Thomas Hamilton , and at the same time between 1881 and 1883 a member of the Maryland House of Representatives . He was then from 1884 to 1887 aide-de-camp of Elihu Jackson , a member of the Maryland Senate , who was elected Governor of Maryland on November 8, 1887.

In 1887 he settled in Chicago down and was there as a businessman engaged before he in 1896 owner of a factory for bricks was. In between he was from 1892 to 1894 a member of the Board of Commissioners of Cook County and 1897 Assessor of South Chicago.

In the US congressional elections in 1902 he was elected as a Democratic candidate to the US House of Representatives and represented there from March 4, 1903 to March 3, 1905 for a legislative period the first congressional electoral district of Illinois. In 1904 he decided not to run again.

After his death on a visit to New York City, he was buried in Rosehill Cemetery , Illinois.
