William H. Neece

William Henry Neece (born February 26, 1831 in Springfield , Illinois , †  January 3, 1909 in Chicago , Illinois) was an American politician . Between 1883 and 1887 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In his youth, William Neece moved with his parents to McDonough County , where he attended public schools. After that he taught himself as a teacher for some time. After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1858, he began to work in Macomb in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . In 1861 he became a member of Macomb City Council; in 1864 and 1870 he was a member of the Illinois House of Representatives . Between 1869 and 1870 he was on a commission to revise the Illinois Constitution. After all, he sat in the State Senate from 1878 to 1882 .

In the congressional election of 1882 , Neece was elected to the Eleventh constituency of Illinois in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded James W. Singleton on March 4, 1883 . After being re-elected, he was able to complete two terms in Congress until March 3, 1887 . In 1886 he was not re-elected. After his time in the US House of Representatives ended, Neece practiced law again. He also got into the cattle breeding business. He died in Chicago on January 3, 1909 and was buried in Macomb.
