Cliffard D. Carlson

Cliffard Dale Carlson (born December 30, 1915 in Aurora , Illinois , †  August 28, 1977 in Dixon , Illinois) was an American politician . In 1972 and 1973 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Cliffard Carlson attended the public schools of his home country and then North Central College in Naperville . He then studied until 1939 at the University of New Mexico . In the following years he was a member of the United States Navy Reserve . Later he worked in the craft. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . In 1960, 1964 and 1968 he was a delegate to the respective Republican National Conventions . He was also a member of the Illinois Republican Board of Directors.

After the resignation of MPs Charlotte Thompson Reid , Carlson was elected to the House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he took up his new mandate on April 4, 1972, when the by-election was due for the 15th seat . Since he was no longer running in the regular congressional elections in 1972 , he could only end the current legislative term in Congress until January 3, 1973 .

In 1974, Carlson competed unsuccessfully to return to Congress. He died in Dixon on August 28, 1977.
