Guy L. Shaw

Guy Loren Shaw (born May 16, 1881 in Summer Hill , Pike County , Illinois , †  May 19, 1950 in Normal , Illinois) was an American politician . Between 1921 and 1923 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Guy Shaw attended his home public schools and the College of Agriculture at the University of Illinois at Urbana . After that he worked in agriculture. He also dealt with the drainage of floodplains along the Illinois River . Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party . In 1920 he was a member of a convention to revise the Illinois Constitution.

In the 1920 congressional election , Shaw was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 20th  constituency of Illinois , where he succeeded Henry T. Rainey on March 4, 1921 . Since he lost to Rainey in 1922, he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1923 .

After his time in the US House of Representatives, Guy Shaw worked in the real estate industry in Beardstown and Urbana. He later moved to Normal, where he ran a farm, among other things. He died there on May 19, 1950.
