George E. Gorman
George Edmund Gorman (born April 13, 1873 in Chicago , Illinois , † January 13, 1935 there ) was an American politician . Between 1913 and 1915 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .
Career
George Gorman attended public schools in his home country. After studying law at Georgetown University in Washington, DC and being admitted to the bar in 1895, he began working in this profession in Chicago in 1896. Between 1897 and 1900 he was deputy public prosecutor there. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . In the 1912 congressional election he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington in the third constituency of Illinois, where he succeeded William W. Wilson on March 4, 1913 . Since he renounced another candidacy in 1914, he could only complete one term in Congress until March 3, 1915 .
After his time in the US House of Representatives, George Gorman practiced again as a lawyer in Chicago. From 1920 to 1928 he was again deputy public prosecutor. Since 1930 he worked at the District Court as a Masters in Chancery . He died on January 13, 1935 in Chicago, where he was also buried.
