William FL Hadley

William Flavius ​​Lester Hadley (born June 15, 1847 in Collinsville , Illinois , †  April 25, 1901 in Riverside , California ) was an American politician . Between 1895 and 1897 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Hadley attended the public schools of his home country and then until 1867 the McKendree College in Lebanon . After a subsequent law degree at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and his license to practice law in 1871, he began to work in Edwardsville in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . In 1886 he was elected to the Illinois Senate; in June 1888 he was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in Chicago , where Benjamin Harrison was nominated as a presidential candidate.

After the death of the MP Frederick Remann , Hadley was elected as his successor to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC at the due by-election for the 18th seat of Illinois , where he took up his new mandate on December 2, 1895. Since he was not confirmed in 1896, he could only end the current legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1897 . After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, William Hadley worked in banking. He died on April 25, 1901 in Riverside and was buried in Edwardsville.
