Lebanon is a small town (with the status " City ") in St. Clair County of middle-Southwest US -amerikanischen state of Illinois . In 2010 Lebanon had 4418 inhabitants.

The city is located in the eastern part of the Greater St. Louis metropolitan area called Metro-East around the city of St. Louis in neighboring Missouri .

Lebanon is located around 35 east of the Mississippi at 38 ° 36'14 "north latitude and 89 ° 48'26" west longitude and extends over 6.4 km². The place is mainly in the Lebanon Township and to a smaller extent in the O'Fallon Township .

A few miles south of the outskirts of Lebanon is Interstate 64 , which runs from St. Louis to Louisville. In the center of Lebanon, US Highway 50, which runs in a west-east direction, crosses Illinois State Route 4, which runs from north to south . A CSX Transportation railroad runs parallel to Highway 50 .
