Centerville is a city in St. Clair County in the west of the US -amerikanischen state of Illinois . In 2010 Centerville had 5,309 inhabitants.

The city is located in the eastern part of the Greater St. Louis metropolitan area called Metro-East around the city of St. Louis in neighboring Missouri .

Centerville is located in the southeast suburb of St. Louis at 38 ° 35'00 "north latitude and 90 ° 07'30" west longitude. The city extends over 11 km². The Mississippi , which forms the border with the state of Missouri, is about seven kilometers to the west.

A Canadian National Railway runs along the southwestern outskirts of Centerville and runs from St. Louis to the southeast.

The St. Louis Downtown Airport is 7.6 km west, the larger Lambert-Saint Louis International Airport is located 31.5 km northwest of Centerville.
