Mascoutah is a small town (with the status " City ") in St. Clair County of middle-Southwest US -amerikanischen state of Illinois . In 2010 Mascoutah had 7,483 residents.
The city is located in the eastern part of the Greater St. Louis metropolitan area called Metro-East around the city of St. Louis in neighboring Missouri .

Mascoutah is located at 38 ° 29'25 "north latitude and 89 ° 47'35" west longitude and extends over 25 km². The city lies on the left bank of Silver Creek , a right tributary of the Kaskaskia River . The Mississippi , which forms the border with Missouri, is about 40 km to the west. Mascoutah is predominantly in the Mascoutah Township and to a lesser extent in the Shiloh Valley Township .
