Lynden Evans

Lynden Evans (born June 28, 1858 in La Salle , LaSalle County , Illinois , †  May 6, 1926 in Chicago , Illinois) was an American politician . Between 1911 and 1913 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Lynden Evans attended the public schools of his home country and then until 1882 the Knox College in Galesburg . After that he worked as a teacher for some time. After a subsequent law degree and his admission to the bar in 1885, he began to work in this profession in Chicago. In 1907 and 1908 he lectured on corporate law ( Corporation Law ) at the John Marshall Law School . Politically, he joined the Democratic Party .

In the 1910 congressional election , Evans was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the ninth constituency of Illinois , where he succeeded Republican Henry Sherman Boutell on March 4, 1911 . Since he was not confirmed in 1912, he was only able to serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1913 . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Evans practiced as a lawyer again. He died on May 6, 1926 in Chicago, where he was also buried.
