Daniel John Ronan (born July 13, 1914 in Chicago , Illinois , †  August 13, 1969 there ) was an American politician . From 1965 to 1969 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Daniel Ronan attended the public schools in his home country and then, until 1933, St. Ignatius High School . This was followed by several courses of study at Loyola University in Chicago until 1941 . During the Second World War Ronan served in the US Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945 . He was deployed in Asia. After the war he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . From 1948 to 1952 he was a member of the Illinois House of Representatives . From 1951 to 1964 he was a member of the Chicago city council and from 1959 to 1964 he was also a member of his hometown planning committee.

In the 1964 congressional election , Ronan was elected to the sixth constituency of Illinois in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded the late Thomas J. O'Brien on January 3, 1965 . After two re-elections, he could remain in Congress until his death on August 13, 1969 . This time was determined by the events of the Vietnam War and the civil rights movement .
