Robert T. McLoskey

Robert Thaddeus McLoskey (born June 26, 1907 in Monmouth , Illinois , †  November 2, 1990 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1963 and 1965 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Robert McLoskey attended public schools in his home country. In 1924 he graduated from Monmouth High School . He then became a funeral director in 1932. He then worked for the Warren County Tax Department from 1935 to 1939 . From 1940 and 1950 he worked for the Illinois Department of Health; he also ran a farm. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . From 1951 to 1962 he was a member of the Illinois House of Representatives .

In the 1962 congressional election , McLoskey was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 19th  constituency of Illinois , where he succeeded Robert B. Chiperfield on January 3, 1963 . Since he was not confirmed in 1964, he could only complete one term in Congress until January 3, 1965 . This time was marked by the events of the civil rights movement and the beginning of the Vietnam War .

Between 1969 and 1972, McLoskey was chairman of the Warren County Planning Commission. He died on November 2, 1990 in his hometown of Monmouth.
