Rolla C. McMillen

Rolla Coral McMillen (born October 5, 1880 in Monticello , Illinois , †  May 6, 1961 in Evanston , Illinois) was an American politician . Between 1944 and 1951 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Rolla McMillen attended public schools in his home country and then the University of Chicago . He studied law at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and was admitted to the bar in 1906. In Decatur he worked as a lawyer and at the same time pursued a political career as a member of the Republican Party . In June 1940 he attended the Republican National Convention in Philadelphia as a delegate .

After the death of MP William H. Wheat , McMillen was elected as his successor to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he took up his new mandate on June 13, 1944. After three re-elections, he could remain in Congress until January 3, 1951 . Since 1949 he represented there as the successor to Charles Melvin Price the 22nd  constituency of his state. His time in Congress saw the end of World War II and the beginning of the Cold War .

In 1950, Rolla McMillen renounced another candidacy. After his time in the US House of Representatives, he no longer appeared politically. He died in Evanston on May 6, 1961.
