Mike Bost (2015)

Mike Bost (born December 30, 1960 in Murphysboro , Illinois ) is an American politician . He has represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives since 2015 .

Career

Mike Bost graduated from Murphysboro High School in 1979 . Between 1979 and 1982 he served in the United States Marine Corps . In 1993 he graduated from the Certified Firefighter II Academy at the University of Illinois , where he was trained as an expert in fire fighting. He became a member of the fire department in his hometown of Murphysboro. He was also the manager of the trucking company Bost Trucking . Politically, he joined the Republican Party . He held a number of local offices in Murphysboro before being elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 1995 , where he remained as an MP until 2015.

In the 2014 congressional elections , Bost was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the twelfth constituency of Illinois , where he succeeded Democrat William Enyart , whom he defeated in the election, on January 3, 2015 . Since he was confirmed in office in 2016, he will also serve in the 115th Congress of the United States, which meets on January 3, 2017 . His new legislative term runs until January 3, 2019 with the option of a further candidacy in 2018.
