William Lathrop

William Lathrop (born April 17, 1825 in Le Roy , Genesee County , New York , †  November 19, 1907 in Rockford , Illinois ) was an American politician . Between 1877 and 1879 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Lathrop attended public schools in his homeland. After a subsequent law degree in Attica and his admission to the bar in 1850, he began to work in this profession from 1851 in Rockford. Soon he became the legal representative of his new hometown. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party founded in 1854 . He was a member of the Illinois House of Representatives in 1856 and 1857 .

In the congressional election of 1876 Lathrop was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fourth constituency of Illinois , where he succeeded Stephen A. Hurlbut on March 4, 1877 . Until March 3, 1879 he was able to complete a legislative period in Congress . After his time in the US House of Representatives, William Lathrop practiced as a lawyer again. He died in Rockford on November 19, 1907.
