Brownsville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Miami-Dade County in the US state of Florida with 15,313 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Brownsville is bordered by the cities of Hialeah and Miami, as well as the CDP Gladeview .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 15,313 inhabitants were distributed over 5,797 households. The population density was 2439.5 inh / km². 19.8% of the population identified themselves as whites , 74.7% as African American and 0.3% as Indians . 3.3% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.8% to several ethnic groups. 25.7% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 28.4% of all households lived in 41.1% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 66.2% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 3.01 people and the average family size was 3.74 people.

33.1% of the population were younger than 20 years, 27.0% were 20 to 39 years old, 25.0% were 40 to 59 years old, and 15.0% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 31 years. 47.6% of the population were male and 52.4% were female.

The median annual income was $ 26,149, with 35.9% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 89.24% of the population, 10.22% spoke Spanish and 0.53% spoke Haitian .

Brownsville is crossed or tangent to Florida State Roads 9 , 112 ( Airport Expressway ) and 944 . The train stop Hialeah Market of the Tri-Rail and the Miami airport are not far west of the CDP.
