Slobodan Petrović (born October 2, 1948 in Belgrade , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a former football player .

Career

Petrović's mother sold tickets to the home games of FK Partizan Belgrade , the club that also became his first stop as a football player. There he made the leap into the professional team. In 1972 his compatriot Tschik Čajkovski , who was the coach at 1. FC Nürnberg , brought him to Germany . The club played in the regional league in which Petrović played 63 games and scored six goals. Then the 2nd Bundesliga was introduced, in which he played 119 games for Nuremberg and scored 17 times. In the 1977/78 season , as captain of his team, he led the Nürnberger in second place in the final table in the southern season. Second place made promotion to the Bundesliga possible. This was followed by the relegation round against the second in the northern relay, Rot-Weiss Essen . Petrović played both games over the full length. The first was won 1-0, the second ended with 2-2 goals after taking the 1-0 lead. Thus Nuremberg rose. Petrović's first and only Bundesliga season was not crowned with success: After an eight-week ban, he was unable to continue his old performance, so that his contract was terminated by mutual agreement in the spring of 1979.
