The first mansion mill in Obersontheim was built from natural stones around 1200. It was a typical Romanesque building with large window and gate openings. The massive outer walls of the washing room and the original mill channel (basement), mill room (ground floor) and filling level (upper floor) have been preserved from this period. There is nothing left of the original extension, gables and roof. Several openings in the wall on the upper floor have rounded cheeks on the cheeks in the upper part.

Today's mill was expanded again after a fire, perhaps in 1557, and impresses with its compact construction on an area of approx. 260 m 2 , its external height of approx. 16 meters and the internal height of more than 18 meters. Some stone blocks are reminiscent of smaller pyramids. Probably because of the dimensions of the outer walls, the half-timbered extension was at least based on the original construction. Two door openings in the north and east were completely walled up. All other wall openings were given smaller sandstone frames.

Current usage

The mill is privately owned and used as a residential building.
