The lordship of Montagny was a territory in what is now the canton of Friborg in Switzerland . As the dominion of the nobles of Montagny , the territory existed since the 12th century. The manor was the castle of Montagny-les-Monts, now part of the municipality of Montagny .

history

The independence of the Montagny lordship ended in 1405 when the Savoyans took over rule. After the conquest by the Freiburgers and the destruction of the castle in 1447, the Savoy were able to regain the territory one year later. In 1478, Freiburg finally bought the rule, which remained as a bailiwick until 1798.
