Lovens ( Freiburger Patois ) is a village and formerly an independent political municipality in the District de la Sarine (German: Saanebezirk) in the canton of Friborg in Switzerland . The former German place names Lowing and Loving are no longer used today. On January 1, 2001, Lovens merged with Lentigny and Onnens to form the new municipality of La Brillaz .
geography
Lovens is located at 767 m above sea level. M. , eleven kilometers west-southwest of the canton capital Friborg (beeline). The farming village extends from a panoramic location on the wide La Brillaz ridge in the Molasse hills of the Freiburg Central Plateau . The former municipality area was around 1.9 km². The area reached from the plateau near the forest of Les Boennes northwards to the height of La Brillaz ( 773 m above sea level ) and into the forest area of La Buchille on its northern slope.
population
With 161 inhabitants (1997), Lovens was one of the small communities in the canton of Friborg before the merger. Several individual farms belong to Lovens.
economy
Lovens still lives from agriculture , especially from agriculture , fruit growing and cattle breeding .
traffic
The village is off the major thoroughfares, the main access is from Avry . Lovens is connected to the public transport network by the Transports publics Fribourgeois bus route from Freiburg to Lentigny.
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in the 12th century under the name Louens . Later the names Lovains (1215) and Loveins (1254) appeared. The place name is probably derived from the Burgundian personal name Lauba and means with the suffix -ens as much as for the people of Lauba .
Lovens belonged to the Montagny domain in the Middle Ages . The village came under the rule of Freiburg through purchase in 1442 and was assigned to the old landscape (Neustadtpanner). After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798), Lovens belonged to the Friborg district during the Helvetic and the following period, before it was incorporated into the Saane district in 1848 with the new cantonal constitution.
As part of the community mergers funded by the canton of Friborg since 2000, the residents of Lovens, Lentigny and Onnens decided to merge their communities. With effect from January 1, 2001, the new municipality of La Brillaz was therefore formed.
