Corpataux was first mentioned in a document in 1142 under the name Corpastur . The spellings Corpastor (1163), Corpatour (1380) and Corpastour appeared later in the 14th century. The place name is derived from the Latin words curtis pastoris (court of the shepherd / pastor).

Magnedens, whose former German name is Magneding , is first recorded as Manoldens in 1162 . The names Mannidens (13th century), Magnoudeins , Manudens (1229), Magnuidens (1263), Magnudens (1281), Manudins (1567) and Magniendens (1645) have been handed down from a later period . Corpataux and Magnedens have belonged to the Arconciel-Illens rule since the Middle Ages and shared their fate. After the Bernese and Freiburgers conquered this rule in 1475, it was dissolved in 1484, and both villages were assigned to the bailiwick of Illens. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798), Corpataux and Magnedens belonged to the Farvagny district during the Helvetic and the following period, before they were incorporated into the Saane district in 1848 with the new cantonal constitution.
