Herschel Weingrod

Herschel Alan Weingrod (born October 30, 1947 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin ) is an American screenwriter and film producer .

Life

Herschel Weingrod graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison from 1965 to 1969 with a bachelor's degree in European history . He then went to London for two years, where he completed his studies from 1969 to 1971 at the London Film School with a Masters .

During this time he met Timothy Harris , with whom he collaborated several years later in several Hollywood films such as The Soldiers of Fortune , Twins and Kindergarten Cop . It was Weingrod who got Harris to write film scripts when they co-wrote the screenplay for the comedy Cheaper to Keep Her in 1980 . Before that, the mutual friendship resulted in Harris adapting a screenplay by Weingrod, which was never made into a film, into a novel, which was published in 1979 under the title Heat Weave . They also jointly founded the production company Myrtos Productions , which entered into a two-year contract with 20th Century Fox in 1992 , from which the jointly produced film Falling Down was born in 1993 . In 2007 Weingrod was involved as a producer on the film drama The Final Season .
