The Sacred Heart Chapel in Hohenraunau was built in 1706. It stands approximately at the highest point of the ridge between the valleys of Krumbach and Kammel , on which the village is located.

The chapel built in 1706 originally belonged to a castle complex that was sold in 1853, traces of which, for example the moat, are still clearly visible to the west of the chapel. The fact that it was part of the castle earlier also explains that the main room, which is closed off by a small apsidal choir, is short and relatively high. For the same reason, the tower of the small church is quite stately. The interior of the chapel is designed in neo-baroque style , with the exception of the two pictures in the choir room from the time it was built, on which the Sorrowful Savior and the Mater Dolorosa are depicted. In the course of the renovation in 1997, the ceiling paintings were rediscovered and reconstructed.
