The Herz-Jesu-Kirche is a listed Catholic subsidiary church. It is characteristic of the town on Staatsstraße 2145 in Heuweg, a part of the municipality of Altenthann .

history

The church was originally built as a school chapel for the nearby Lichtenwald elementary school . Its construction was initiated in 1920 by the Pettenreuth pastor Josef Schreiner, who was doing his pastoral service as a young cooperator in Altenthann. The necessary property was donated by the local farmer and innkeeper family Rösl. The church was created through donations of money and materials as well as manual and tension services by the believers in the Lichtenwald branch community.

In 1948 extensive drainage took place because the stalls had been erected directly on the ground. During this construction project, an additional gallery was also built, which initially housed a harmonium .

In 1980 the outside and inside of the church were renovated and in 1994 the podium was given a new beam for the podium.

Structure

The church is designed as a gable roof structure with a retracted apse and roof turret with an onion dome.

Furnishing

The church is decorated without any significant art-historical ornament. The most valuable object is a five-registered , baroque organ positive from the period before 1800. It came to the church in 1946 from the parish church Altenthann via Lichtenwald. The last transfer was made by Eduard Hirnschrodt .
