Heart and cross

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The combination of heart and cross is a common figure in heraldry . In this form, the heraldic figure can be identified as a symbol of the royalist-catholic resistance of the French rural population against the French Revolution ( uprising of the Vendée ) around 1793. The starting point was the mandatory recruitment of the revolutionary parliament in Paris. The sign stands for the Heart of Jesus (Sacré Coeur). Two interlaced, slightly displaced heart outlines are shown with a cross placed on a schematic five-pinned wall. The color for the heraldic figure is primarily red. This heraldic stylized form emerged from a heart with an equipped cross.
