Architecture and history

It was the first hospital in the city of Bernburg and was built as a replacement for the hospital established in the monastery in the Bernburg valley town after the Reformation . In 1897, at the instigation of Duchess Friederike , to whom the name of the building goes back, the complex was expanded and at the same time converted into a nursing home. The new Bernburg hospital at the southern end of Kustrenaer Strasse was built as a replacement .

However, large parts of the facility were demolished in 1996. Get remained next to the men's house, the former morgue and from quarry stone built property fence.

The old people's home is registered as an architectural monument in the monument register for the city of Bernburg under registration number 094 60087 .

The complex is considered to be significant in terms of urban and social history and, with the high-rise property wall, it is characteristic of the street scene.
