HesWare
HesWare ( H uman E ngineered S often ware or HES for short ) was an American software company in the 1980s that focused on developing software for the VC20 and C64 and was based in Burlingame , California . The company was founded in 1982 and disappeared from the market in 1987.
HesWare produced various software from the areas of learning and game programs , including titles such as Attack of the Mutant Camels , Mr. TNT or Shamus , as well as programming aids such as Graphics BASIC and 64Forth . With the HesMon , a machine language monitor was also developed for the C64.
In some cases, HesWare was the largest supplier of " single-source " software for the C64.
In October 1984 the already heavily indebted company HesWare was bought up by the "Avant Guard Publishing Corp." in order to avoid bankruptcy .
The switch to newer platforms such as Atari ST and AMIGA took place very late, the development of a space simulation for Atari ST and the AMIGA was started, but it was no longer completed.
Game developers Larry Holland and Ron Gilbert , later famous for their work at LucasArts , started their careers at HesWare.
