The Hessische Bankverein , based in Kassel, is a former German credit institute that was founded in 1908 and taken over by Commerzbank AG in 1922 .

The Hessische Bankverein was created in 1908 through the merger of the banking houses JC Plauth & Co. in Eschwege and Leopold Plauth & Co in Kassel . With the establishment of branches in Hannoversch Münden and Witzenhausen , the takeover of two private banks in Fulda and two advance payment associations in Neukirchen and Rotenburg an der Fulda , the Hessische Bankverein expanded its business area to all of Northern Hesse. In 1909, the Hessische Bankverein also took over Paderborner Bank AG in Paderborn , which had recently become insolvent.

In 1922, the Hessische Bankverein was taken over by Commerzbank AG .
