The Hessian competence center for responsible digitization was founded in 2019 at the Technical University of Darmstadt . It is a Hesse- wide network center funded by the Hessian Ministry for Digital Strategy and Development . All Hessian universities and research institutions belong to this network.
As an interdisciplinary network, the competence center aims to bring together and strengthen Hessian research expertise on important issues relating to digital change in science, business and society. Accordingly, with its research work, the competence center should make a fundamental contribution to the digitization and AI strategy of the Hessian state government and help shape it. In addition to promoting innovation and technology, research and development, training skilled workers and promoting start-ups, the focus should also be on ethical, legal and socio-political aspects. Kristina Sinemus , Hessian State Minister for Digital Strategy and Development: "Digitization should serve people, not the other way around".
Together with the Council for Digital Ethics , the Hessian competence center for responsible digitization is to promote a human-oriented design of digital change as a driving force for science, business, society and politics. To achieve this goal, the competence center is to be expanded into a comprehensive Hessian network of university and non-university research institutions.
