Heterodontus omanensis is a small shark known only from three specimens caught in 2004. It occurs at a depth of around 72 meters near the island of Masira on the coast of Oman .

features

Heterodontus omanensis reaches a length of 60 centimeters. The prepared type specimens are brown, with a lighter underside and numerous lighter spots. They have one dark saddle mark on their head and three on their back. These spots clearly distinguish them from other bull head sharks . The head length is 24.8% of the standard length. The outer nostrils are small and pear-shaped, the injection holes are small and reach a diameter of 3 to 4 millimeters. They are located diagonally below the eyes. There are 30 to 38 teeth in the upper jaw and 31 to 35 in the lower jaw. The two relatively small dorsal fins are dark, preceded by a white thorn. The pectoral fins are large. Heterodontus omanensis has 98 vertebrae.

The almost ten centimeters long, diamond-shaped egg capsules of Heterodontus omanensis are delimited by two edges that are twisted like other species of the genus. On the underside of the egg capsules there are two holding threads that are more than a meter long.
