Hewitt Associates Inc. was a publicly traded American company headquartered in Lincolnshire , Illinois .

Hewitt has been part of the Aon Corporation since October 2010 . Hewitt's activities were merged with Aon and the new subsidiary has since operated under the name Aon Hewitt . In June 2020 the company was renamed Aon Solutions.

The company was in the area of outsourcing of human resources , English Human Resource Consulting , in 33 countries and had active claims to be there more than 3,000 customers.

Hewitt Associates was listed in the Fortune 1000 ranking of the business magazine Fortune and was traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the abbreviation HEW . The business fields were advice and planning for pension claims and health insurance of customers.

history

On October 1, 1940, Ted Hewitt founded Edwin Shields Hewitt and Associates in Lake Forest as an insurance broker with a focus on financial advice.

A first regional branch was opened in Minneapolis in 1959 . In 1974 Hewitt opened a department in the Canadian city of Toronto and in 1985 in Paris and in St Albans near London .

In 2004, the acquisition of Exult Inc. , a specialist in business process outsourcing with headquarters in Irvine, California and 2400 employees, for 690 million US dollars was announced.

Over time, the company has acquired other companies.

On July 12, 2010, Chicago- based Aon Corporation announced that it would acquire Hewitt for $ 4.9 billion in cash and stock. The purchase was completed on October 1, 2010 and the shares have ceased trading on the New York Stock Exchange . Two weeks later, Aon announced that between 1,500 and 1,800 employees would be laid off.
