Hi-Standard is a punk band from Japan that was formed in 1991. The band members are Akira Tsuneoka ( 恒 岡 章 , Tsuneoka Akira ; drums), Akihiro Namba ( 難 波 章 浩 , Namba Akihiro ; vocals and bass) and Ken Yokoyama ( 横山 健 , Yokoyama Ken ; vocals and guitar). Hi-Standard are signed to the Fat Wreck Chords label . In Japan, the band has also released releases on Ken Yokoyama's own record label, Pizza of Death Records , including Husking Bee . Contrary to the punk cliché, the lyrics are mostly about happy topics. Some of their songs are "doted" cover versions, for example by the Bay City Rollers or Rainbow . After a 17-year hiatus, the album "The Gift" was released in 2017 with 14 songs, the Japan edition also contains two bonus tracks.
