Hidayet Karakuş

Hidayet Karakuş (born September 6, 1946 in Yalvac ) is an Alevi writer , poet and literature teacher .

Hidayet Karakuş is in the village Kurusari raised in Yalvac. She attended primary school in Yalvac. In 1964 she went to Isparta , where she attended school and worked as a teacher. In 1966 she attended the educational institute and completed her teaching as a literature teacher . She has given lessons in Adana , Manisa and Izmir .

On July 2, 1993, she took part in the 4th Pir Sultan Abdal Festival in Sivas with her husband Iclal Karakuş and other Alevi artists such as Muhlis Akarsu . After the festival, Hidayet Karakuş and other artists retired to the Madimak Hotel. The hotel was besieged by Islamists and finally set on fire, 37 Alevi artists burned to death. Hidayet Karakuş and Iclal Karakuş survived this attack with minor injuries (see: Sivas arson attack ).
