Hidehiko Shimizu ( Japanese 清水 秀 彦 , Shimizu Hidehiko ; born November 4, 1954 in Tokyo Prefecture ) is a former Japanese football player and coach.

Career

Shimizu learned to play soccer on the school team of Saitama Urawa High School and the university team of Hōsei University . He signed his first contract with Nissan Motors in 1977 . In 1983 and 1984 he was runner-up in the Japan Soccer League with the club . In 1983 and 1985 he won the Kaiser Cup with the club . At the end of 1988 he ended his career as a football player.

In 1991 Shimizu became a trainer for Nissan Motors . In 1991/92 he was runner-up in the Japan Soccer League with the club . In 1991 and 1992 he won the Kaiser Cup with the club . With the founding of the professional league J.League in 1992 and the associated reorganization of Japanese football, Nissan Motors became Yokohama Marinos . In 1996 Shimizu became Avispa Fukuoka's trainer . From 1998 to 1999 he was the trainer of the Kyoto Purple Sanga . In August 1999 he moved to the second division club Vegalta Sendai . In 2002 he was runner-up with the club in the J2 League and was promoted to the J1 League .
