Hideki Kozakura

Hideki Kozakura ( Japanese 小櫻 秀 樹 , Kozakura Hideki ; born May 26, 1970 in Seto , Japan ) is a Japanese composer and pianist .

Life

Born and raised in Japan, he studied at the Tokyo University of the Arts . In 1996 he did his bachelor's degree there, and in 1999 his master's degree with Akira Miyoshi and Teruyuki Noda. This was followed in 2004 by a further master’s degree at the Royal Music Academy in Stockholm with Pär Lindgren, Bent Sørensen and Örjan Sandred (electro-acoustic music).

He often gives lectures in Europe, USA, Canada and Japan. His music is influenced by traditional Japanese music theater such as Kabuki or Kyōgen , by Viennese operettas , by techno and German electro pop .

Hideki Kozakura teaches as an assistant professor at the Nagoya Academy of Music , Japan.

Prices (selection)

  • 1995 Prize at the Japan Symphonic Competition
  • 1997 second place at the first Takemitsu International Composition Competition (no first place was awarded)
  • 2000 Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs Award for Performing Arts
  • 2006 Composition grant for contemporary music from the Berlin Senate.
