Hieron is the title of a work by the Greek historian Xenophon . It is a conversation between the poet Simonides von Keos and the tyrant Hieron I of Syracuse about tyranny . In it Xenophon develops an ideal of monarchy , probably with a view to the contemporary tyrants of Syracuse.
