High Fidelity was a funk 'n' roll band from Auerbach / Vogtland founded in 2004 . Until it was dissolved in 2009, it was successfully active in Central Germany.

history

In January 2004, High Fidelity emerged from a ten sing band. The Nick Hornby book High Fidelity and the film of the same name with John Cusack provided the name and inspiration for the founding .

After many concerts, one of the first successes was celebrated in 2005: By winning the 12th national band competition in Zwickau , they demonstrated their skills in front of the jury and the audience. Part of the award was the appearance at the LUEG Newcomer Night in Zwickau in front of 3,000 guests and the recording of an EP that High Fidelity Christmas 2005 released.

Other highlights followed, such as reaching the finals in the band competition "Sachsen rocks" (with Liquido ) in May 2006 and several concerts in and around Nizhny Novgorod / Russia in July 2006. In autumn 2007, the band began recording their first album Taste the Waste , which was released in spring 2008. In June they won the nationwide band competition "Berlin 08" and played for Wir sind Helden und Madsen as a prize .

In autumn 2008 the singer Manuel Zeh left the band for personal reasons. Christian Roscher succeeded him. This was followed by further concerts in central Germany and a tour in Romania until summer 2009.

After 100 concerts, High Fidelity dissolved on August 15, 2009 with a final concert called Last Kiss Goodbye . As a reason she gave career changes in some band members. On the same day she released her farewell EP.

reception

The band was particularly valued and known in the Vogtland because of their energetic, sometimes ecstatic appearances. There was also some recognition in Christian youth work circles. The band members openly professed their beliefs. Nevertheless, High Fidelity did not see itself as a band with a missionary mandate. Rather, they tried to build bridges between Christian fans and non-Christian music lovers.
