Hikma Pharmaceuticals is a multinational pharmaceutical company based in London . The company manufactures generic and licensed drugs .
history
Hikma was founded in 1978 by Samih Darwazah (1930–2015) in Jordan and was first listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2005 . The company is the most listed on the FTSE 100 index . In 2013, Hikma achieved a sales growth of 23%. It is the largest regional pharmaceutical company in the MENA region .
In July 2015, Hikma bought Boehringer Ingelheim's US generics division Roxane with around 1,300 employees for US $ 2.65 billion. Of the purchase price, Boehringer received $ 1.18 billion in cash and the remainder in 40 million Hikma shares. Boehringer is now a 16.71% shareholder in Hikma.
